Big Cities Health Coalition Strongly Supports the U.S. Air Travel Public Safety Act
October 2021
For Immediate Release: October 12, 2021
Chrissie Juliano, Executive Director, issued the following statement:
“The U.S. Air Travel Public Safety Act, introduced last week by Senator Dianne Feinstein, is a critical safeguard against the spread of COVID-19, particularly as we head into the holiday season. As we have seen time and again over the last 20 months, increased travel, whether it be for summer or winter holidays, has contributed to devastating surges in COVID-19 illness, hospitalizations, and deaths.
Requiring proof of vaccination, a negative COVID-19 test, or a full recovery from COVID-19 should be a baseline level of protection for practically all indoor activities, including air travel. Many cities are implementing similar precautions to enter bars or sporting events — because we know they work. Vaccination, testing, and masking are all part of a multi-layered approach that can keep our economies open as we continue to battle the pandemic.
We thank Senator Feinstein for her leadership in introducing this bill and strongly encourage the US Congress move to pass it.”
