Kirsten Aird is the Public Health Director for the Multnomah County Health Department. She leads a staff of more than 350 public health practitioners working with communities to advance health equity, protect the most vulnerable, and promote health and wellness for everyone living and visiting Multnomah County. 

Kirsten is a seasoned public health leader with over 23 years of experience in health policy, strategic planning, and organizational change. Renowned for her collaborative approach, she excels in empowering teams while confidently navigating complex decisions. Kirsten is a trusted facilitator of equity-driven initiatives and an engaging public speaker who brings a focused demeanor to challenging situations. 

Kirsten was previously Oregon Health Authority’s Deputy Public Health Director where she oversaw strategic initiatives, led policy and partnership programs, and ensured compliance with public health regulations. She played a pivotal role in transitioning the Community Engagement Team into an Equity Unit and co-sponsoring Oregon’s State Health Assessment for 2024. 

Kirsten has also served as Business Operations Director for the Public Health Division at Oregon Health Authority, where she advanced continuous quality improvement and performance management. Her tenure also includes managing chronic disease programs, overseeing federal grants, and leading innovative initiatives bringing professionals from across sectors together to improve community health. 

Kirsten has a deep commitment to community and education, reflected in her role as a School Board Director for the Lake Oswego School District since 2019. There, she has guided strategic health and resiliency priorities, overseen curriculum approvals, and supported labor negotiations. 

A proud alumnus of Emory University (MPH in Public Health Policy and Management) and Linfield College (B.S. in Biology/Chemistry), Kirsten complements her professional expertise with volunteerism, including serving as board president for the Chelsea Hicks Foundation 2011-2017. 

She is a passionate advocate for public health equity and a dynamic leader dedicated to making meaningful impacts in Oregon and beyond.
